Assange calls on US to end 'witchhunt'

Julian Assange spoke in public on Sunday for the first time in months. He addressed a large crowd of supporters from the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he has been granted asylum.

Assange called on the U.S. to end its "witch hunt" against Wikileaks. He also said that Obama needs to "do the right thing" and release Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier charged with leaking classified information to Wikileaks.

"There must be no more foolish talk about prosecuting any media organisation, be it Wikileaks or the New York Times," he said. "The U.S. war on whistleblowers must end."

Assange said the U.S. is at a crossroads.

"Will it return to and re-affirm the revolutionary values it was founded on? Or will it lurch off the precipice, dragging us all into a dangerous and oppressive world in which journalists fall silent under the fear of prosecution and citizens must whisper in the dark."

Two years ago Congressman Ron Paul took a stand as one of Julian Assange’s few defenders in Washington, arguing that the WikiLeaks founder should get the same protections as the media. Watch the video below.

Osama Bin Laden Not Dumped at Sea, Wikileaks, CIA, Anonymous

As we posted earlier that millions of hacked Stratfor emails were published by WikiLeaks in the article Wikileaks' Stratfor Files Shake US Intelligence Community, it appears, that this was just the beginning. According to “shadow CIA” Stratfor email hacked by Anonymous that leaked secret email files of Stratfor, Osama Bin Laden was not buried at sea and there was no Islamic ceremony.

Instead, his body was shipped via a CIA plane to a mortuary located at a military medical institute in Dover, Delaware.

This time wikileaks has posted leaked email conversation between two Stratfor agents.

WikiLeaks: Leaked Memos Expose Inner Workings of Private Intelligence Firm Stratfor, a "Shadow CIA"

WikiLeaks has begun publishing what it says are 5.5 million emails obtained from the servers of Stratfor. Stratfor is a privately owned Texas based company gathering intelligence information for the US government security agencies and US corporations. It is also known under the name of the “shadow CIA.”

The emails were obtained by the hacktivist collective Anonymous.

DemocracyNow reported that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said the emails involved some of the world’s largest firms in corporate espionage.

The most striking revelation from the latest disclosure is not simply the military-industrial complex that conspires to spy on citizens, activists like the Yes Man, but the extremely low quality of the information available to the highest bidder.
