For sixth consecutive day the besieged Gaza Strip is being hit by Israeli airstrikes  with rising civilian casualties among the Palestinians due to the Israeli attacks.

Nearly two dozen Palestinians were killed in the latest airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Monday, raising the death toll from the Israeli aggression since Wednesday to at least 101.

The Israeli military says it has attacked the Gaza Strip 1,350 times since Wednesday. The city of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip has been targeted in the recent Israeli airstrikes.

Israeli drones have bombarded the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as a stadium in Gaza.

Two women were killed and several others injured in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza city. A Palestinian girl is reported to be in critical condition.

Reports indicate that fresh Israeli airstrikes have targeted eastern and western Gaza. Some 302 rockets were intercepted by Iron Dome and 99 failed to reach Israel and landed inside the Gaza Strip.
In scenes recalling Israel’s 2008-2009 winter invasion of Gaza, tanks, artillery and infantry have massed in field encampments along the sandy, fenced-off border with Gaza and military convoys moved on roads in the area.

Ron Paul Warns About Perils of War PDF Print E-mail

Israel’s “Operation Pillar of Defense” against the Palestinians in Gaza is likely to produce renewed tensions in the Middle East and ultimately draw the United States further into deepening hostilities against Syria and eventually Iran, warned Ron Paul during his farewell speech last night.

Rep. Ron Paul said “our foreign policy is destined to keep us involved in many wars that we have no business being in” and these seemingly endless conflicts are waged without congressional approval and “with no complaints from the American people” who have endured more than a decade of perpetual war. “Because it’s the government that initiates force, most people accept it as being legitimate,” Paul said.

CIA Coordinating Arms Funneling to Syrian Rebels

Today, The New York Times report has discovered information that put CIA officers secretly aiding the struggle against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and funneling arms to rebel groups.

Apparently, a small group of CIA officers operating from southern Turkey are deciding which anti-government fighters will receive arms, entering the Syrian border from Turkey.

According to the New York Times’ report the shipped weapons include automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition, and some antitank weapons.

The Obama administration did not deny claims Thursday that the CIA has taken on a greater role in responding to the Syrian uprising, but it did not respond directly to the claims in The New York Times that CIA officers in Turkey are helping broker weapons transfers into Syria to ensure arms do not fall into the wrong hands, like militants affiliated with Al Qaeda.

Unnamed American officials and Arab intelligence officials told the paper, "CIA officers are there and they are trying to make new sources and recruit people."

Israeli Troops Destroy Four Palestinian Homes and 52 Electricity Pylons

It is just now breaking that Israeli forces have razed four homes of Palestinians along with 52 electricity pylons near the town of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian witnesses and a correspondent for AFP.

These activities are hardly surprising given that the state of Israel recently spat in the face of the international community by refusing to cooperate with a probe conducted by the United Nations Human Rights Council and banning them from entering to investigate illegal settlements.

Every single home in the West Bank villages of Humsa and Hadidiya is slated for destruction. The Israeli army has declared most of the Jordan Valley, where the villages are situated, as a "closed military area" from which the local Palestinian population is barred.

Russia: Iran Set to counter US-Israeli Strike PDF Print E-mail

It's important to maintain a presence of U.N. nuclear inspectors and monitors in Iran, said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

He issued a strong warning against a military attack on Iran Monday, April 2, saying that a pre-emptive strike would violate international law. His comments, made during a visit to Armenia, stopped short of threatening the US and/or Israel of the possible nuclear consequences.

Nevertheless, they were in tune with the explicit threat from Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last Thursday of strong Iranian resistance to foreign intervention in Syria and vow to defend Damascus as the “center of resistance against Israel.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, warning that the Middle East standoff could boil over into military action at any moment, has called for urgent talks of the Sextet of Middle East mediators with Iran.

Western military observers link the two statements as representing an evolving Russian-Iranian front. After their shared success in delivering Bashar Assad from the revolt against his regime, the two partners are preparing to fend off a potential strike against Tehran’s nuclear program as well as shore up Iran’s regional interests from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean, reported
